Days 113 - 114: THE KAT!!!!

Well, the day finally arrived!  We head back to San Francisco to meet one of my oldest and dearest friends, Kat.  We haven't seen Kat in 4 years because she moved to San Diego, and we weren't going to be able to get that far south in LeTigre, so she and her boyfriend flew up to meet us!  I was VERY excited!!

Blast from the past!
Angie, our friend Handsome Joel (Rest In Peace...), Kat and Greg at Mardi Gras about 18 years ago.

Before Kat and Jerry arrived, Greg and I walked to dinner.

Yep, they went there.

(Disclaimer: I was so excited to see Kat, that I forgot to take any pictures!! The few we have together were taken on cell phones or kinda in passing.)

Kat and Jerry were only in San Francisco for two nights so we had a lot of catching up to do in a short time. The first night we met them at the Red Room in the Clift Hotel. Very swanky.

Silly girls in a big chair.

More silliness.

The next day, we met Kat and Jerry for breakfast and then walked around the city.  This is Union Square.

I love China Town, but we literally walked about 2 steps in the area before Greg and I had to go back to the motel and check on Kipper.  Didn't even get to see any of the food or anything!  Bummer.

Kat, Jerry, and I walked to Coit Tower while Greg went to check on LeTigre (parked in a 2 hour spot for about 20 hours--no ticket!!).  On the way back to meet us, he decided to ride his bike down Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the U.S.!

He also saw this bus.  Watch out, LeTigre, you got some competition!

Me, Kat, and Jerry.  I didn't get the memo about how to cross your legs in pictures.

Golden Gate Bridge.

Alcatraz

Coit Tower was funny.  Kat and Jerry wanted to check out the San Francisco landmark.  They had read on Yelp that "Coit Tower may be one of the most romantic spots in the city."  Um, no it's not.  This is it.  Does that look romantic?

Kat and Jerry trying to bring some romance in a distinctly unromantic place.

Luckily the weather was beautiful and the view was clear.

And the building is pretty neat.

After all that romance, we were thirsty, so we walked down to O'Reilly's for some cider and oysters.

You can sit in this car and eat dinner!  Now THAT'S romantic!

We changed for dinner (thanks for the dress, Kat!) and went to Francesco's for some delicious Italian.  This is the owner.  Kat looks great.  I look a little.....squished.

After dinner, we went to a bar that Kat and Jerry had heard about.   It was pretty cool, especially the back room, where the owner had a collection of patriotic memorabilia.

Yes, that's exactly how I imagine Lincoln.....

...... and Washington.

Like I said, we don't have very many pictures.  The ones we do have are blurry or dark.  Too bad, we had a great time and I would love to have more photographic proof!

Good bye, Kat!  Thanks so much for flying up to meet us!  We'll come your way soon.
We love you!

  1. Greg & Angie,
Greetings from SIP BAR in San Francisco! (the bar with the patriotic art). I just came across your business card with the picture of the RV & thought I'd drop you two a line! What an adventure! Happy we were one of your stops!
