So, turns out that U.S. government doesn't like dogs as much as we do.....cuz dogs aren't allowed in National Parks! Well, they're "allowed," they're just not allowed to have any fun. See the second paragraph below....
If you've looked at our itinerary, you know that National Parks take up approximately 88% of our travel.
Needless to say, this makes Kipper sad.
But, due to some serious webernet searching and such, we have found some options. Actually, quite a few options. Pretty much all National Parks have a "sister" park that allows dogs a little more freedom. And, as far as I can tell, all BLM lands allow dogs. And there are other parks and wildlife areas with less stringent canine policies. Dogfriendly.com seems to be a good resource. Our dear friend Erika gave us one of their books dedicated to dog friendly camp sites, beaches, etc....it's 450 pages of doggie goodness!
That makes Kipper happy.
So happy, in fact, that he leaps with joy!
P.S. Banff Canada, btw, is 100% dog friendly. Those good ol' Canadians, eh?
