Where, Oh Where, Can My Doggie Go?

So, turns out that U.S. government doesn't like dogs as much as we do.....cuz dogs aren't allowed in National Parks!  Well, they're "allowed," they're just not allowed to have any fun.  See the second paragraph below....

If you've looked at our itinerary, you know that National Parks take up approximately 88% of our travel.

Needless to say, this makes Kipper sad.

But, due to some serious webernet searching and such, we have found some options.  Actually, quite a few options.  Pretty much all National Parks have a "sister" park that allows dogs a little more freedom.  And, as far as I can tell, all BLM lands allow dogs.  And there are other parks and wildlife areas with less stringent canine policies.   Dogfriendly.com seems to be a good resource.  Our dear friend Erika gave us one of their books dedicated to dog friendly camp sites, beaches, etc....it's 450 pages of doggie goodness!

That makes Kipper happy.

So happy, in fact, that he leaps with joy!
P.S.  Banff Canada, btw, is 100% dog friendly.  Those good ol' Canadians, eh?

Little House on the South Side

We've been remiss in updating the blog, sorry!  Lot's going on.  Looking at the calendar we've only got 82 days until the trip although we'd leave sooner if we could.  We keep tying off loose ends and luckily most are staying that way.  Just a few more things to figure out before we make our escape.

Since SXSW we moved again!  New tenants, a great couple from California (Greg and Heather), have moved into the duplex.  We're currently staying in our friends' (Scott and Amy) terrific little guest house.  What's left of our furniture and belongings fit perfectly inside and it's very comfortable.  Scott and Amy are great cooks and Scott loves to grill so we're pretty spoiled.  Even our dogs are best friends!

Here's some photos to introduce you to Casita Rosa!

Hopefully this will be the last Uhaul for awhile.  Just a little 14 footer this time!
Special thanks to Stefon and Vince for providing moving muscle.
U Can Do It!

Scott and Amy were kind enough to store our art on their walls.  Hope we get these back...

Casita Rosa from Scott & Amy's back porch.  Angie found a place for her hammock!

Tex and Kipper doing their thing.  They get along so well we might have to dognap Tex when we leave!
